About The Author
A retired firefighter/EMT-paramedic/special rescue technician: From a young adolescent to a young adult, he pursued many different hobbies and adventures. He was frequently off to some adventure spelunking, technical rock climbing, and backpacking. Canoeing and kayaking the white water rapids of many different classes. He was one for an adventure over the usual social structures of those times.
When he was not off on one of his pursuits of adventures, he was an avid reader of many of the authors from the science fiction genre. Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clark, Philip K. Dick, Robert Heinlein, and Andre Norton, to name a few.
As an adult, he renewed his interest in amateur astronomy and astrophotography, and he finally built a small roll-off roof observatory in the backyard. He also has pursued an interest in many sciences related to the study and theory of astronomy.
As an adult, he traveled along many different trades and vocational paths. He achieved a career in the fire service. Working with a volunteer service first, then in a career department in a large metropolis in Indiana. The many realities of life encountered and dealt with in that career helped to shape his appreciation for the sanctity of life and the frailty of it as well. He tries to apply some of these lessons in his writing and fictional worlds.

Mark with his observatory telescope rig. A 12" SkyWathcher F4 Newtonian mounted on a Losmandy Titan German Equatorial Mount with a Gemini 2 controller. Many of the images on this site were acquired with this outfit and his Meade 6000 70mm refractor wide field imaging telescope. Both OTAs (optical tube assembles) are mounted together on the Titan.
